Alamo River Wetlands
One of three wetlands on the U.S. side of the border, designed to take the flow of the New River offline for seven to nine days, cleansing the water as it passes through native plants in hand-built marshlands. Birds are appearing along the river because of the marsh habitat. Fish have been introduced by federal Bureau of Fish and Wildlife. And while some pollution remains at the former "most polluted river in America", many consider this an environmental success story.
