Fourth Street Viaduct - Los Angeles
Replacing the last wooden bridge in downtown Los Angeles, the Fourth Street Viaduct was built in 1931. Straying from the classical style of bridges built before it, the Fourth Street Viaduct is styled in a Gothic Revival, its pointed archways and triangular forms reminiscent of Medieval times. Although this style was somewhat shocking for the 1930s, it was copied in the design of other river bridges built nearby later on.
